My Hair Journey!

Hey everyone! Ok, so this is a bit different from my usual posts, but I thought it would be fun to share my hair journey with you all! :) So here goes, hope you enjoy the cringy selfies! :P

I started off with gorgeous thick blonde hair with a nice long fringe as seen below...

The only annoying thing was the roots, so much hassle! I'm naturally quite fair, if you can see my eyebrows they're not very dark at all but being platinum made my roots look dark brown. Plus, paying £60 a time without a cut just for my roots was taking a toll on my student purse!

So, I was thinking. And this is where everything goes wrong because I always wonder what I'll look like with other colours and then I always alwaysssss end up missing the colour that I first started with! :P

I decided to edit a photo to see what I'd look like with darker hair... Excuse the cringey face haha!
I quite liked it and it was definitely the change I was after, having just broken up with my boyfriend at the time I wanted to mix things up a bit! So I decided to buy a box colour the next day from Superdrug.

I ended up just dying it red as I've had that colour in the past and always thought it suited me. I decided to use the L'Oreal Mousse in Burgundy Red and it kind of went a pink-ish colour.. sorry I have no pictures for that stage! So then I had to put a Schwarzkopf XXL box colour in Red Passion and it went the colour below... which I actually really liked. However, I'd forgotten just how quickly red hair tends to wash out!!! Every time I was washing my hair loaaaaads of colour would come out and then when I dried it, it would look all washed out and horrible.

I was finding that I'd need to put a box colour on every other week, so this obviously did a lot of damage to my hair.. As you can start to see my hair looks a lot thinner now in the picture below...

I then realised that I wanted to be back blonde! :P As you do. So I'd read lots of reviews and watched a lot of Youtube videos of Colour B4, which promises to completely get rid of all the dark tones in your hair and leave your hair in whatever colour it was before. I was hoping it would go somewhat blonde... and this was the result...

A horribly patchy yellowy brassy orange mess... However, I was impressed that it managed to get all the reddish/brown out.

I just knew that I could not go outside with my hair like that, so I did what anyone else would do.. I whacked a dark blonde on top of it, in the hopes that it would neutralise the orange bits and hopefully make it all one shade and easier to deal with.

This was the result.. I purposely didn't put much on the ends as I wanted them to look a bit lighter than the rest of my hair to make it look more natural. I felt better with this hair but it wasn't what I wanted. I knew I had to deal with it though as, as you can see... the quality of my hair was awful!!! My fringe had snapped off, the back of my hair had snapped creating tufts.. it was TERRRRRIBLE!

Anyway, after going on holiday to Greece and using John Freida Go Blonder Shampoo and the lightening spray.. which is a GOD-SEND! It started to gradually get lighter and lighter which I was super happy about! This was the result.. My hair looks like I've had it cut massively and looks really thin, however I haven't had my hair cut for the whole time, from the first picture to the last.. :(

This is my hair currently and whilst it still looks patchy in places and it's not completely perfect and is extremelyyyyy dry and thin, I'm happier with it and that's the main thing. I'm planning on using plenty of hair masks and oils so if you have any recommendations at all, please leave them below :) If you have any hair stories too, then leave the links and I'll give them a read! :D

Thank you for reading! Steph x
